Letter from the editor

SierraScape June - July 2002

Dear fellow Sierrans,

I've been proud to serve the Eastern Missouri Group as editor of SierraScape for the past two and a half years. This, my 15th newsletter, is my last. However, I'm not going far!

By the time you read this, I'll be hard at work as Conservation Organizer for the Global Warming and Energy Program. I'm excited about working for national Sierra Club on such an important and challenging campaign. We scored a huge victory when the U.S. Senate defeated the Bush Administration's efforts to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas drilling, but we must still work hard to avoid the kind of energy plan that would pollute our air and water, harm national parks and wild lands, and contribute to global warming. I hope you'll get involved, too.

I deeply appreciate all the help and support I've received from members, activity leaders, and the EMG Executive Committee during my tenure as editor. This job has brought me into contact with dedicated, thoughtful, inspiring people, and I couldn't have done it without you! Thank you all for making it a wonderful experience!

-Jill C. Miller

P.S. I'll be working out of the EMG office at 7164 Manchester Avenue in St. Louis. You can reach me at (314) 645-2032. And if you can help with the newsletter, see page 6. I'll be helping with the transition.
