It all started when I got a telephone call from Ed Schott, superintendent of Hawn after the big ice storm. He had heard from George Behrens that there was a group of Sierrans who had some trail building experience. There were a lot of ice falls that needed to be removed. About nine people showed up on a cold weekend in January and hand sawed and removed wind falls along the entire trail system.

Since then our trail crew has completed two reroutes and corrected erosion problems on the trails.

On October 27 through 31 we will begin building two trails connecting the White Oak Trail to the Pickle Creek Trail.

We will have free camping at the Scout Camp for the entire week. This is an opportunity for retirees or people who have a little comp time from work to get out in the early fall. Come down for a week a weekend or just a day. The work will be hard to easy. We will also need hikers to walk the trails to identify areas that need attention.

Most meals will be pot luck but we will go in to town some nights for pizza or whatever. Wednesday will be a day off. We will have a campfire every night. Bring a musical instrument if you would like to play for us. Also we all enjoy story telling and poetry reading.
