Clifftop and IDNR to Host Festival of the Bluffs

The festival will be held at Cedar Bluff Park in the Village of Fults. Interpretive hikes at Fults Hill Prairie Nature Preserve– a National Natural Landmark–and Kidd Lake Marsh State Natural Area will introduce festival goers to the awesome beauty of Southwestern Illinois.

At Cedar Bluff Park demonstrations and presentations include wildlife of the area, the Illinois Natural History Survey's "Science Van," information on identifying and controlling invasive plant species, native plant alternatives for gardeners, living with karst topography, and information about local birds, birding, and attracting birds and butterflies.

The festival also will include native plant sales by Missouri Wildflowers Nursery, arts, crafts and book sales as well as food, music and entertainment.

Admission is free, a $2.00 parking donation is requested.

The Village of Fults is located in Southern Monroe County, about 30 miles south of St. Louis. From the north and Interstate 255, take Illinois Highway 3 South through Columbia to Waterloo. In Waterloo, turn right onto Illinois Highway 156 and then an immediate left onto Maeystown Road. Continue on Maeystown Road to Bluff Road. Turn left on Bluff Road and continue four miles to the Village of Fults.
