Jefferson County Quarry Threatens Bat Habitat

A proposed quarry expansion near Morse Mill has raised questions about impacts on bat habitat. At this writing Central Stone has a quarry permit pending for an area near the Big River. Local residents have raised concerns about historic bat habitat in the area and the loss of forest cover if the quarry expands.
