2018 will be another historic election. Let's vote for a better result than 2016.
The Sierra Club endorses candidates and Propositions based on who and what we think will be better for the environment, our democracy and our society. Our suggestions for candidates in eastern Missouri or state wide are on the Missouri Chapter web site.
As you can see this is a long list for the eastern part of the state. Check Missouri State Government House of Representative website to locate your district if needed.
How did we develop this list? You may notice that several districts and offices are not represented. That may be because not every district has an opening, or some districts may not have a candidate which met our endorsement standard, or some candidates did not seek our endorsement. We make our endorsement choices based on past voting records, questionnaire responses and other record of public service, if applicable.
Ballot Propositions and Amendments
Don't forget these important ballot measures worth your vote!
Clean Missouri, Amendment 1 - is a big step forward for better government and a stronger democracy for our state. Briefly it will require non-partisan rules to guide the drawing of legislative district maps. It will nearly eliminate lobbyist gifts, require more openness in legislative records and more. See cleanmissouri.org to learn about this valuable measure.
Proposition B - will gradually raise the minimum wage in Missouri to $12.00 an hour. This will help close the income gap and strengthen our society and democracy.
Proposition 2 – Save Our Parks – this applies to St Louis County and will require a citizen vote when the county proposes selling county park land or proposes non-park development. This is a sensible protection giving county residents a voice in the future of our parks.
