Get to know the Missouri Chapter's new Legislative Chair, Erica Hoffman! Originally from Texas, Erica attended Missouri Southern University and then moved to St. Louis in 1997. She currently lives in Fenton, MO with her husband and two children. After running for a href="https://house.mo.gov/">Missouri House of Representatives last year, and receiving the endorsement of The Sierra Club, she became interested in serving on the Legislative Committee. In her role as Chair, she says, "I wanted to do more to highlight environmental issues in Missouri. I feel this is an area that tends to be overlooked and needs more individuals advocating for this issue. Unfortunately, some of the paid special interest groups working in Jefferson City do not have the same concern for the environment as many Missourians do."

She has always enjoyed spending time outdoors and wants to protect the environment and places that have brought her and her family so much joy. She and her husband have visited every state park in Missouri and have visited over 50 National Parks with their children. When asked why advocating for policy change is an effective tool for solving environmental concerns, she says, "I feel it's one of many tools needed to help protect the environment. I think approaching members of the Legislature to ask them to support environmental issues helps bring it to their attention and will hopefully make a positive impact."
