In August, the Eastern Missouri Group partnered with REI, Inc., Schnucks and Trex Manufacturers to help recycle plastic packaging waste at REI's Brentwood, MO store location. Sierra Club Member Glenn May (pictured) is leading the effort by picking up the store's plastic film and delivering it to Schnucks. Schnucks then sends the waste in bulk with its other plastic waste to Trex Manufacturers. The plastic film is then made into a wood alternative for outdoor decking and furniture. After enough plastic has been collected from the partnership with REI, Sierra Club will receive one of the Trex park benches to be placed in a local open space.
