Summary
Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission is proposing a rule to limit the noise level of natural gas compressor stations. The proposal says that "the noise levels for a non-wellhead compressor facility or station during normal full-load operating conditions shall not exceed 55 [decibels], as measured from the exterior of the nearest preexisting noise sensitive area." Fifty-five decibels is the equivalent of normal conversation, according to the National Agriculture Safety Board, a publicly funded nonprofit. Currently, the noise can rise to 90 decibels.
