NJNG Pinelands Pipeline

New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) is proposing a new pipeline through the Pinelands. This pipeline would be 30 miles long and traverse through Burlington, Monmouth, and Ocean counties.

The pipeline would go through the Joint Base in the Preservation Area established by the Pinelands Protection Act, which is supposed to get the highest level of protection.  This pipeline …

  • could destroy habitat, pollute high quality streams, rivers, and cut across important C1 waterways.
  • will promote sprawl and overdevelopment down the shore and near the Pinelands when there are other clear alternatives.
  • could impact one of the largest sources of drinking water on the East Coast, which is used by about one million people.
  • will not save consumers money or create jobs.

The first part of the proposal is the Garden State Expansion’s Transco Compressor Station. It would be a supply point in Chesterfield at 14 Bordentown-Chesterfield Road, adjacent to the New Jersey Turnpike. This compressor station would not only be dangerous to surrounding areas but it would also add noise, air pollution, light pollution, and development to the area.

The second part of the proposal is the Southern Reliability Link Pipeline. This would be 30 miles long, 30 inches wide, and have a 722 pounds psi gauge. The pipeline would run from Chesterfield to Manchester and go through the Pinelands National Reserve.

We can STOP the Pipeline!

We need to be united together to fight this pipeline!

We must oppose the pipeline altogether, not move the pipeline. If you push to move it, then you support it and will be sacrificing one neighbor for another.

Local knowledge and input is incredibly important when it comes to fighting the pipeline. We need your knowledge to find places to slow down and stop the pipeline.

You should not allow them on your land.  If you have, you should rescind permission. The less information they have, the harder it is for them to get approval.
