Please welcome Grace Anderson and Lornett Vestal to the Sierra Club Outdoors team!
Grace Anderson is based in the Sierra Club headquarters (now in SF, soon to be Oakland), and will provide day-to-day support for Inspiring Connections Outdoors after Debra Asher retires March 10.
Grace grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. After discovering the outdoors on a college spring break trip with the Student Conservation Association to Joshua Tree National Park, she was hooked. Since then Grace has been chasing wide-open spaces – living in Wyoming, North Dakota and New Hampshire and currently calls San Francisco home.
While in Wyoming, Grace worked for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). She had the opportunity to work on Expedition Denali which was designed to illuminate role model of colors in the outdoors. It was in the role, Grace found her passion in engaging more diverse populations to the outdoors and advocating for the protection and creation of more urban green spaces. She’s excited to bring her background in administration and marketing at outdoor-centric non-profits and time in the field leading 2 – 24-day backpacking trips to the Inspiring Connections Outdoors Representative position.
When she’s not dreaming up her next personal trip, she can be found reading, volunteering or planning a party.
Lornett Vestal is based in the Sierra Club Georgia Chapter office (Decatur, just outside Atlanta). He is the first Southeast Military coordinator working with staff and volunteers to design and implement both regional and local strategies and programs to constructively engage the military and veteran communities in the Southeastern United States with an emphasis on Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
Lornett is a Navy veteran from Chicago, IL and he has a Master’s in Social Work from University of Chicago. His passion lies in education, promoting universal equality, serving others, and protecting the environment. He is the new Southeastern Military and Veterans Coordinator in Atlanta, GA where he lives with his partner. In his free time he enjoys international travel, craft beer and watching Ultimate Fighter Championship.
