Clair Tappaan Lodge:
Summer/Fall 2011 Activities
Clair Tappaan Lodge is located at 7,000 feet elevation on Donner Summit and
is about 1.5 hours' drive east of Sacramento just off Interstate 80 on Donner
Pass Road.
The Lodge boasts a cheerful dining room, a large living room with huge fireplace,
a cozy library with wood-burning stove, a recreation room, and a hot tub. Sleeping
accommodations include separate dormitories for men and women, small rooms for
couples, and larger rooms for families. Guests must bring their own sleeping
bags or bedding, although pillows and cases are provided. Bathrooms are shared.
A professional chef cooks hearty breakfasts and dinners that are served family-style
in the dining room. Guests prepare their own brown bag lunches from plentiful
and varied ingredients. Vegetarian options are available for every meal. To
maintain the communal spirit, each guest pitches in daily by doing a simple
chore.
