Sierra Club Outings
Participant Approval Forms

Information about the Participant Waiver

While the Sierra Club and its leaders exercise every effort to conduct safe outings, sometimes accidents do happen. Therefore, it is the Club’s policy to require participants to waive any claim arising from negligence and to execute the Club’s written express release of liability and express assumption of risk form. While the Sierra Club values the participation of minors with their parents or legal guardians on outings, our policies also require that the minor’s parent or guardian execute the assumption of risk and release of liability document on behalf of their minor child or children as a condition of participating in any outing.

Under California law, such releases and assumptions of risk are enforceable and are required by the Club as a condition of participation in any outing. Such releases are a standard in the outdoor travel industry.
