Tell Clinton: Protect The Arctic!

The Planet, December 1995, Volume 2, number 9

By a narrow 51-48 vote this fall, the Senate kept a provision in the budget reconciliation bill that would open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil leasing and development. The near-miss vote cheered Club leaders, who said it shows that a veto-sustaining minority of senators from both parties is willing to back President Clinton's promised veto of any budget bill that includes oil development in the Arctic Refuge.

Urge Clinton to follow through on his promise to veto the budget reconciliation bill or any bill that opens the Arctic Refuge to oil development. Call him at (202) 456-1111; or e-mail him at president@whitehouse.gov
