Save the Sequoias
For years, Sierra Club activists fought to protect the giant sequoias on Sequoia National Forest from logging and roadbuilding. They breathed a sigh of relief when, three years ago, then-President Clinton signed a proclamation creating Giant Sequoia National Monument. Unfortunately, monument status is no match for the Bush Forest Service, which has put logging at the center of a new management plan proposed for the area. Comments on the Forest Service plan are due March 17. To take action, visit www.sierraclub.org/ca/sequoia/.

Right to Know
A new report released by a coalition of environmental and human rights groups, including the Sierra Club and Amnesty International, documents irresponsible environmental, labor, and human rights practices committed abroad by ExxonMobil, Nike, McDonald's, Unocal, Doe Run, Freeport McMoran, and Newmont Mining. The report, entitled "International Right to Know: Empowering Communities Through Corporate Transparency," calls on American businesses to disclose the same kind of information about their operations abroad that they are required to release for their U.S. operations. To read the report online, visit www.sierraclub.org/human-rights/.

Empowering Investors
For people who want to invest in their financial future while also investing in the future of the planet, the Sierra Club and Forward Management, LLC., have created a new family of mutual funds. The Sierra Club Funds will include only securities that meet environmental and social guidelines established by the Sierra Club. For more information, visit www.sierraclubfunds.com/.
