| Greening the
Granite State. The Sierra Club Environmental Voter Education Campaign
(pictured below) was in high gear during the New Hampshire January
presidential primary. Focusing
on energy, clean air and water, and mercury pollution in conversations
with voters, Club staff and volunteers conducted phonebanks and community
meetings, bird-dogged the candidates, and recruited 187 volunteers
to get the word out at 103 polling places across the state. More than
40,000 "Another New Hampshire Environmental Voter" stickers
were distributed at candidate events, local bars and businesses, community
meetings, homes, the polls, and on the street. Pictured above at a
rally in Concord are Northeast Regional Staff Director Mark Bettinger,
Northeast Assistant Regional Rep Cathy Corkery, Appalachian Region
Senior Regional Rep Elise Annunziata, and Vermont organizer Kimberly
Marion. |
