Planet e-mail debuts
We've now launched the e-mail/Web version of this newsletter. We received a couple hundred sign-ups, mostly for e-mail only, but a dozen or so for both.
(If you like, you can try the e-mail version while you’re still getting a printed copy mailed to you, and then decide later to just get one of them. Or you can keep getting both.)
So this month, we’re sending our first e-mail Planet to those who signed up—and they’ll keep getting the e-mail Planet once a month. We're sending a similar e-mail just this time to Planet readers we have an e-mail address for, and offering them the option of e-mail or print or both.
Some folks seem to fear we’re abandoning print—we received this letter from a doctor in Maryland:
“I know the Planet wants to go paperless, but after I read the issues, I put them in the office waiting room along with Sierra magazine and other environmentally related publications. This may use up some trees, but it may also encourage more people to realize the importance of protecting the environment with a net beneficial result.”
Amen to that. I hope I didn’t give the impression that we are not going to continue to print and mail the Planet. Certainly not in the foreseeable future.
Ten years from now?
Well, when you consider the fact that most of us didn’t even have e-mail ten years ago, it’s pretty hard to predict how we’ll be communicating in 2015.
So how’s this? Please sign up for the e-mail Planet, but only if you want to.
And check back to our home page regularly. We'll be posting new stories every week.
