The measure, proposed August 18, has been under an extended public comment period ending Friday, December 4. The EPA proposed this measure in order to cut methane emissions by 40 to 45 percent by 2025, part of a strategy under the Obama Administration’s climate action plan.

Since the EPA’s release of the proposal, more than 71,000 Ohioans have agreed that oil and gas companies should be held accountable for the air pollution they create;  considering most emissions from the oil and gas sector by 2018 will come from sources operating at present.
