CO-04 Betsey Markey (D)
Endorsed by the Sierra Club, Markey is proud that she practices conservation in her personal life and consumption habits, and strongly believes in reducing our fossil fuel reduction and replacing it with renewable energy. She also says that we must "get serious" about global warming and climate change by taking a multilateral approach of investing substantially in alternative energy, cutting carbon emissions, using green building technologies and changing our wasteful consumption habits.
Markey says: "The next Congress needs to sit down, put all the energy options on the table, and develop a comprehensive energy plan that decreases our dependence on foreign oil while pursuing the best long-term solutions…. When elected to Congress, I plan to work toward that end by making research in new alternative technology and energy conservation one of my top priorities. Together we will solve the energy crisis and make America stronger and more secure."
