Americans care about protecting our National Parks and Monuments, coasts, forests, prairies and other special places that are vital parts of our natural heritage. But Congressman Richard Pombo (R-CA) is out of step with these basic values. Pombo has used his powerful position as Chairman of the House Resources Committee to propose: selling off several National Parks and Monuments to private developers opening our coastal areas, including the California and Florida coasts, to offshore oil and gas drilling helping wealthy oil companies drill in sacred places like the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge removing habitat protections that wildlife need to survive.
