Host a Green-Pink Party Today!
The Global Population and Environment Program is joining together with advocates for women's health and human rights in order to protect women and the environment. When a woman's voice and health are valued, she is better able to advocate on her own behalf for access to education about reproductive health care, family planning and for the protection of the natural resources essential to her children's survival.
Host a Green-Pink Party today. Unite two movements. Save lives!
Remember, August is the month when members of Congress are on recess. They need to hear from you while they are back home. The House of Representatives passed its FY 2007 Foreign Operations Appropriations bill earlier this summer, setting aside $432 million for international family planning assistance. The Senate Appropriations Committee then passed its version of the bill with $465 million requested for international family planning. The next step is for the whole Senate to approve their Appropriations bill and then for the Senate and House to reconcile both bills.
August Recess Action!
Contact your Representative and Senators today and let them know you support a funding level of $465 million and no less than $432 million for international family planning assistance! The health of our planet and all of its inhabitants depends on the reproductive choices that we make today. The environmental dilemmas of global warming, biodiversity loss, deforestation and the spread of pollutants occur simultaneously with population growth. Investing in family planning assistance programs slows population growth, improves the health of women and families and takes steps to ensure a more sustainable future.
