Childhood Mortality

When parents are assured of their child’s survival, they are more likely to plan their families and take the necessary measures to space their births and delay having children. Women who believe that they will have healthy babies, who have a good chance at survival past age 5, tend to start having children later in life, and have fewer pregnancies over their lifetime.
