New Youth Action for the Global Environment Materials

The Sierra Club's Global Population and Environment Program is pleased to announce that we are creating new Youth Action for the Global Environment Campaign materials! Our new "Empowering Youth, Saving the Planet" fact-sheet includes helpful talking points, statistics, and ways that young people CAN take action to change U.S. policies that affect the health of people and the environment. Use this colorful resource to speak out for sustainable development and global health solutions at home and abroad! If you would like a copy, please contact Cassie Gardener at cassie.gardener@sierraclub.org Stay tuned for more Youth Action for the Global Environment resources later this month, including stickers, posters, and a 26-page Youth Activist Guide!

New Factsheet: Population Growth and Greenhouse Gas Emissions

What does population have to do with global warming? We know that during the 20th century, human population multiplied from 1.6 billion to 6.1 billion people, and that heat trapping carbon-dioxide (CO2) emissions grew twelve fold, but how can we talk about these complex connections effectively? This two-page fact-sheet produced in partnership by the Population-Health-Environment Policy and Practice Group will provide you with helpful talking points on these links, and information on solutions that can slow the rate of population growth, and therefore be part of a long-term strategy to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. If you would like a copy, please contact Cassie Gardener at cassie.gardener@sierraclub.org.

New Report: Climate Change and the Millennium Development Goals

Climate change presents significant threats to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) especially those related to eliminating poverty and hunger and promoting environmental sustainability. The UN Millennium Campaign launched the following brochure as part of the Climate Change and the MDGs event at the Bali Climate Conference.
