Statement Against Coal Plant by Springfield Sierrans
We wish to express our concerns about the new, proposed coal-burning
power plant, which City Utilities of Springfield (CU) would like to bring
online by 2008. From mining to the eventual disposal of the waste, coal
releases numerous toxic pollutants into the air, our water, and onto our
lands, endangering our health and harming the environment. more>>
Volunteer Opportunity: Coal Plant Campaign Committee Chair
The MRCC is in need of an organizer to lead and coordinate the MRCC's
Coal Plant Campaign Committee and volunteers. The major goal of this
campaign is to reduce or eliminate the harmful environmental and health
effects from coal-fired power generation by cleaning up current plants,
shutting them down, or preventing sitings of new ones.
