Meet your tour guides:
In order to walk the talk, Billy and Meighan are off to Detroit and
their first stop on the tour in a new 2003 Toyota Prius hybrid. Says Billy: “We're going to see if
we can make it all the way to Detroit on one tank of gas. WOOHOO!
Wish us luck!”

Tales from the Road: Day 6
Las Lomas de New Jersey
Missions Accomplished! Both Billy and I -- being the nerdy organizers that we are -- set goals for ourselves when we started our roadtrip. Billy's was to sign up 1,000 new volunteers. We definitely reached that number and then some. My mission was to get a photo of Perry Farrell at our table. At the New Jersey show, the Lollapalooza Gods must have been smiling down on the Sierra Club because Perry just strolled up and gave us his best rock-star pose. Check it out!
Photographed at left: Lollapalooza founder and Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, center, with the Sierra Student Coalition's rock journalist Meighan Davis on left and SSC photographer Crystal Durham on right.
Besides our brush with celebrity, the show in New Jersey was one of our best ever. We had 452 concert-goers taking action on fuel economy at Ford Motor Company. We signed up new members for the Sierra Student Coalition and sold our hip new "You'll go farther in the back-seat of a hybrid" t-shirt. We took about 100 speech-bubble photos including one with Tom Morrello, the former Rage Against the Machine guitarist who is now in the band Audioslave.
Despite our victorious tabling at the Jersey show, we all were a little down because we had to say goodbye to Crystal and head back to Washington, D.C. Both Billy and I are still in Lollapalooza withdrawal and can't wait 'til the tour rolls into D.C. so we can pretend to be rock stars again.
