Bill Clohessy of The Green Bag Company showed off his company's lightweight, durable, and reusable tote bags. They were developed in response to the levy against plastic bags in Ireland, which effectively eliminated them from the country. (Plastic bags are not just wasteful; the volume of bags we consume can cause serious harm. For example, in Carl Pope's remarks on Friday morning he noted that disposable bags were a major culprit in clogging drainage systems during India's recent typhoons.) These reusable bags are made from non-woven polypropylene, a washable and fully recyclable material, that packs more easily than canvas and other reusable tote-bag materials, which makes it easier for you to take your bag with you. That makes it more likely for your answer to the eternal question "Paper or plastic?" to be the right one: "Neither."
