Mianus River Gorge Global Warming Awareness Hike

A group of 20 hikers met at Mianus River Gorge Preserve, the nation's first Natural Heritage Landmark, to learn about what they could do as individuals to fight global warming at home and in the political sphere. Preserve naturalist/research biologist Chris Nagy discussed the importance of high quality carbon sequestration found in the gorge's old growth forest and its importance in the battle oto fight global warming. The group committed to promote the 2% Solution to reduce carbon emissions by 2% per year over the next 40 years to reduce CO2 emissions by 80% over the same period. Sponsored by Mianus River Gorge Preserve and Sierra Club Lower Hudson Group.
