Los Padres Recycles Cell Phones and Ink Jet

In alliance with Marborg recycling program, the Los Padres Sierra Club has begun collecting old cell phones and ink jet cartridges.  Cell phones and other electronic devices contain toxic substances such as arsenic, lead, cadmium, and beryllium that can pollute the air when burned in incinerators and leach into soil and drinking water when buried in landfills.  Sierra Club’s Los Padres Chapter has teamed up with Phoneraiser to recycle unused phones and turn them into cash for activists to work on local environmental issues. Phoneraiser campaigns are good for our environment because all collected cell phones and electronic devices are either refurbished or disposed of using only the most ecologically sound methods (backed by EPA standards).
