Suburban Sprawl and Development Email Discussion Lists

The Sierra Club currently has two national and four regional sprawl discussion lists to serve your interests.

National Lists

The first is a moderated list which has a limit of 10 messages per day. This list, CONS-SPST-SPRAWL-DEV-MOD, is handled much like a talk show where the list moderator works to keep the discussion on the topic of sprawl with an emphasis on solutions, campaign strategies, calls for help and news from across the U.S.

The moderated list is an appropriate place to pose questions regarding strategy or policy, to post notices of upcoming activities, to share your news and to post the URL's or synopses of relevant articles from major newspapers. (We currently cannot post full articles due to copyright challenges by the New York Times). Participants are limited to posting one message per day to keep the volume manageable. The list is open to the public and as of June 1999 had 317 subscribers.

The second list, CONS-SPST-SPRAWL-DEV, is an unmoderated version of the first list. This list allows for a wider-ranging discussion. There is no limit to the number of messages that may be posted. Unmoderated list members receive all messages posted by moderated list members. As of June 1999, the unmoderated list had 27 subscribers.
