Forestry

The Houston Sierra Club (HSC) wants volunteers who have a love and interest in the protection of forests.  Sam Houston National Forest, Big Thicket National Preserve, Columbia Bottomlands in Brazoria and San Bernard National Wildlife Refuges, and all public, and private forests are included in this effort.
 
Goals of the HSC forest protection program are: 
1) Reduction of environmentally harmful activities;
2) Gain knowledge/get to know/educate about forests;
3) Support collaboration/administrative actions/lobbying/lawsuits;
4) Communicate/advocate Sierra Club policies/positions/approaches for protection of forests;
5) Document the status of forests;
6) Monitor/assess environmental impacts; and
7) Enjoy/have fun/socialize while working to protect forests.
