In April of 2007, negotiators came to an agreement to, among other things, lift Korean barriers on US-imported beef and cars and halt the US stance against government subsidies on Korean rice. This agreement was signed in June 30, 2007 but still has not passed through Congress. It does not include sufficient environmental and labor provisions (labor provisions as of yet are left open) to truly increase economic well-being for every one of both countries.
