Responsible Trade
No Globalization without Representation:
Make Trade Clean, Green, and Fair

Boston WTeaO Party Action Kit

The World Trade Organization will meet in Seattle from Nov. 30 - Dec. 3 in the biggest "free trade" summit ever held on American soil. This summit offers an unprecedented opportunity to educate the American public and the media about how the WTO is undermining our health and environmental standards to promote corporate globalization.

In the short time remaining, we must generate public involvement and media attention to pressure President Clinton to take executive action to make trade clean, green, and fair. But we should also use our activities in coming weeks to build our coalitions and educate the public for our long-term fight for trade that is clean, green, and fair.

Please use the materials in this action kit to take at least one action by Monday, Nov. 29:

1. Use the factsheets in this kit to write an opinion-editorial or letter to the editor that you place in a local newspaper.

2. Make copies of the draft letters to House and Senate congressional leaders to generate as many letters to Congress. Most print shops will blow up the "No Globalization without Representation" factsheet artwork to poster size for an eye-catching poster or display.

3. Hold a dramatic "Boston WTeaO Party" to strengthen your local fair trade coalitions, capture media attention, and educate the public about the need to make trade clean, green, and fair. See the enclosed instruction sheet for further ideas.

Please feel free to contact any one of us for assistance.
