Care For Utah

The Bush administration's policy of allowing oil drilling on almost all public lands in Utah is indefensible.

Utah's spectacular, unspoiled public lands could provide inspiration for our children for generations...

... or they could meet America's oil needs for about three weeks. ( According to the USGS, there are probably less than 500 million barrels of undiscovered oil underneath Utah's pristine public lands, outside of existing oil fields. According to the Department of Energy, the U.S. uses 20 million barrels of oil a day. Do the math: spoiling these lands for future generations would supply our oil needs for a mere three weeks.)

The Bush administration is offering some of our most scenic lands to oil companies... (Over 80% of Utah BLM lands are open to oil and gas leasing. This includes some of the most scenic and unspoiled parts of the state, such as Lockhart Basin and the viewshed of Delicate Arch.)

... but drilling these special places won't make us any less dependent on foreign oil, and will spoil their scenic beauty for generations to come.

Care about Utah? Then care FOR Utah. Together, we can keep Utah as beautiful and unspoiled as it is today ... For our Families, For our Future.
