The Sierra Club Ready for 100 campaign is creating a nationwide movement to inspire our local leaders to embrace a vision of healthier communities powered by 100% clean energy.
Around the country we are asking mayors, CEOs, pastors, principals, civic and community leaders, parents and students to commit to solutions that help us achieve 100% clean, renewable energy across the United States by the year 2050, starting at the local level.

The research has been done and the numbers are there, we know that a 100% clean energy transformation statewide and nationwide by 2050 is possible economically and with technology that already exists. What has held us back are social and political factors, and we are rapidly building a movement to change those. This is why we are working to change the culture around energy, educate our communities and decisionmakers, and increase public demand to put pressure on our decisionmakers to get started!
Ready for 100 in Virginia:
Arlington and Alexandria have been longtime leaders on energy and environmental policy in Virginia, and now the Ready for 100 Campaign is asking them to continue to show leadership by committing to transition to 100% clean renewable electricity, community-wide by 2035, and all energy sectors by 2050. By making this commitment, Arlington and Alexandria will not only show that they are committed to building a better, healthier, safer, and thriving future for the community, but they will also add to the growing demand and support for clean energy. At the local level we can all make our voices heard; we need our local leaders to step up and take action to send a strong message to our state leaders and utilities that Virginia is Ready for 100!
