America's public lands belong to ALL of us. As a nation we have a long and proud tradition of protecting our natural heritage. In fact, America was the first nation in the world to set aside land for its natural wonder alone - Yellowstone National Park in 1872. From that first bold move we now have National Parks, Refuges and Forests that are recognized throughout the world.
Unfortunately, America's Wildlands are increasingly threatened by rapid development from oil, gas, logging and mining interests. You can help make sure that the same natural wonders that you enjoy will still be there for your children and future generations.
- Chime in! It is your right to be heard on issues that will affect your public lands. There are several ways to find out about local, regional and national issues and give your input. Sign up for our Public Lands Action Update to learn about opportunities to comment on issues effecting your public lands.
- Get connected. Find your local Sierra Club chapter and support local efforts to protect areas in your own back yard. You can learn about the many efforts by Club volunteers to safeguard sensitive areas for future generations. Attend meetings and share your ideas and concerns.
- Take Action! Learn about Wildlands related policy decisions in Congress that can affect your community and weigh in with your opinion.
- Join the Sierra Club.
When you join or give to the Sierra Club you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to preserve irreplaceable wildlands, save endangered and threatened wildlife, and protect this fragile environment we call home.
