Act to Protect Utah's Zion/Mojave Wilderness

The Zion/Mojave Wilderness in the southwest corner of Utah is the place where the red rock canyonlands of the Colorado Plateau merge into the stark desert terrain of the Mojave Desert - home to Joshua trees and the endangered desert tortoise. 'America's Red Rock Wilderness Act' would protect 300,000 acres of wild lands in this key eco-region.
Senator Bennett has introduced legislation that not only fails to provide adequate protection, but also mandates the sale of some public lands to help pay for a dubious water development scheme that would promote harmful sprawl development. It would harm the wild lands and further deplete an already diminishing regional water supply.
