1/24/25- Wollman Rink: A very energetic, excited group of 3rd to 5th grade students from Samara raced to dismissal on a Friday afternoon to meet up with their parents to go on a NYCICO trip ice skating! It was a very special trip, as we turned it into a family trip instead of just students having students go. We took the subway down to the rink and carefully stayed as a group when making one transfer! When we got to the rink, students got their rental skates and laced them up. Some were eager to get on the rink and took off while others inched their way around making sure the wall was only a few inches from them. They practiced the "push and glide" technique with the help of Samara teachers and NYCICO volunteers. Some of the parents helped the kids, while for others, it was the kids teaching their parents! At 6pm, the trip was over. Most students started headed home, while others stayed with their parents to continue a beautiful evening at the rink. This is the first year that Samara Community School has been an agency with NYCICO and students are loving the trips!
