Despite the rain earlier in the day on Saturday, September 28, 2024, students from The Young Women’s Leadership School of the Bronx embraced the weather and made the most of their nature-filled adventure. Departing at 10 AM, the group arrived at Dr. Davies Farm in Congers, NY, where they enjoyed apple picking, undeterred by the drizzle. The cool rain added a refreshing touch to the crisp autumn air as students filled their bags with fresh apples.
By the time the group arrived at Rockland Lake State Park, the rain had stopped, making for a peaceful and refreshing walk along the lake. The students marveled at the wildlife, watching graceful swans glide across the water, egrets standing tall along the shore, ducks paddling in groups, and a majestic heron taking flight. The serene setting and close encounters with nature made for a perfect ending to a memorable day outdoors.
