Welcome to the 2021 Board of Directors Election hub, where you'll find candidate information, bios, statements, and a forum of the candidates answering important questions about their vision and goals.

The annual Sierra Club Board of Directors Election provides an opportunity for members to have a say in what the future of the Sierra Club looks like. Each candidate answered written questions on issues facing the Sierra Club and has provided a short campaign video as an additional resource for your decision-making. Consider all of the candidates, consider all of the topics that matter to you, and remember to vote!

The 2021 Sierra Club Official Ballot includes eight candidates for the five open seats on the Board of Directors for the 2021-2024 term. All were nominated by a Nominating Committee, chaired by Glen Besa. The Board of Directors elects Sierra Club’s officers, including the President and the Executive Committee, and selects Sierra Club’s Executive Director. Directors typically also serve on at least one of the Board’s advisory committees. Directors whose terms expire in 2021 are: Ross Macfarlane, Debbie Heaton, Tony Fuller, Chad Hanson and Margrete Strand Rangnes. All except Margrete Strand Rangnes are running for re-election.
