Human indifference is reducing animal and plant life to levels that threaten our very existence. You care, and you can show it by taking theAction Alertabove. As stated, "The Okefenokee is one of the largest intact freshwater ecosystems in the world... Mining near the Okefenokee could pollute and permanently alter this ecosystem." Private mining companies see to extract the mineral titanium dioxide there that does nothing useful. It just makes toothpaste and powdered donuts whiter! Why should private, profit-driven mining interests be allowed to destroy this glorious part of nature that belongs to all of us for some useless purpose?Oppose this monstrous plan HERE.
Then follow up with a call to action HERE to end cruel "trophy hunting." As stated, "Mountain lions, bears, wolves, bobcats and other wildlife are senselessly killed every year by trophy hunters throughout our country's last remaining wild spaces – and it's time to put a stop to it once and for all."Again, private interests are killing the wildlife that is our natural treasure. A quick moment of your time will louden the voice of opposition to this awful "hobby".
Then keep abreast HERE of the dangers our natural places face under the current, short-sighted, incomprehensible disdain that is attacking their existence. National Monuments were designated under the Antiquities Act of 1906 that has enabled former presidents to designate 168 of them across the country. Those "monuments" are actually wilderness areas untouched by human disruption, and they belong to us! They are part and parcel of the animal and plant life we need to thrive.Make sure your desire to protect them is counted.
