This week, we are concentrating on several events that will engage you heartily in the conservation causes you care about. We start with Trash Free Maryland's Cheers to Clean Water on Sunday, September 21st from 10 AM to 12 PM in Cambridge.
Team up with Trash Free Maryland for a morning of community action to clean up litter around Cambridge Creek in Cambridge. SEE HERE for more information and to be a part of this meritorious action for our flowing rivers and creeks.
Keep reading because that's not all.
September 28th tabling event in Cambridge:
On Sunday, September 28th from 12 to 5 PM, we will be at the Dorchester Center for the Arts Showcase in Cambridge where our Zero Waste Team will share information about our Group and will promote the Maryland Bottle Bill.
Check out our LES Group calendar here and come learn good stuff while having fun. If you are a Dorchester County resident, we will be especially glad to meet you there.
7th Annual Legislative Summit for Climate and Environment:
On January 10 and 11, 2026, you will be able to join this extraordinary event to acquaint yourself with the bills that environmentalists will advocate for when the 2026 General Assembly convenes. No other event will provide a more intensive exploration of the bills and how they will make our air, water, soil andfood cleaner. In other words, how they will help us all to be healthier!
There's no ask, but great rewards to those who join this experience. See here to register and for further details.
Get ready for more news about upcoming events you will be sure to want to join. In October, our in-person general membership meeting and ourscreening of the film Plastic People will highlight our efforts.
Now, to those fireflies. They are gorging on nectar from pretty white weed flowers in a yard. Feeding pollinators (which fireflies are among) helps them do their essential work to keep the plant-based food we eat abundant. Better yet, you can limit weeding your gardens and fields! Less work, more rewards. Now, who can tell me what this other gorgeous insect is?
Don't miss out. The planet needs you.
Thanks for all you do for the environment,
Jacky Grindrod Vice-Chair Sierra Club Lower Eastern Shore Group
