Above is the famous 72-year-old Clements House on Assateague Island, crumbling into the sand, surrounded by nature's seashore vegetation. What humans create eventually falls; what nature gives us lives on forever. We face that reality, yet we still must work to protect both our human and our natural world.
Important information HERE gives you 10 doable ways you can start now to force back the disastrous trajectory we currently face. From spreading the word to keeping up political pressure, to planting trees, tweaking our diets, reining in our power usage and more, we can make a difference. We can change the world.
We have some ideas for you as well. By courtesy of our SC Chapter, we'd like to introduce you to SolarAPP+, a remarkable source of help in moving over to solar energy. From the Maryland Sierra Club:
SolarAPP+ is a software tool that was developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory with leading building safety experts over the past decade and is used by over 200 communities across the country. It is independently run by a non-profit foundation SolarAPP+ Foundation and is no longer subject to the whims of the federal government. By automating plan review, SolarAPP+ streamlines the process of routine residential rooftop solar installations and home energy storage systems. ***
It is the position of the Maryland Sierra Club that SolarAPP+ is an excellent tool that can ease backlogs and delays in residential rooftop solar permitting and allow resources to be better allocated to more complex solar systems. SolarAPP+ is [without charge] for jurisdictions to use and the Maryland Energy Administration has a grant program that can support any initial implementation costs such as staff time and training.
