"Save Connelly Mill Park" is a grassroots movement to keep the Connelly Mill Quarry from becoming a noisy, polluted ATV raceway and a dump for toxic river dredge material. These 234 acres of forests, creeks, wildlife and a stunning lake were donated to Wicomico County "with the express intent of becoming a public park after a period of responsible dirt excavation."
That "period" is over and the County leadership has already attempted to create the raceway. The legally promised park, which will protect the headwaters of the Wicomico River and the vital Paleochannel aquifer, stands vulnerable to profiteering, privateering, and callous commercialism.

Join the folks who are trying to make Connelly Mill Quarry into "Connelly Mill Park," the relaxing, rejuvenating place it was legally promised to be. See more information and details here.
Very important: Election Season is here, and your vote is crucial! Sierra Club at all levels is primarily a volunteer organization whose leadership answers to us. Let's be sure to do our part. If you’re a Maryland Sierra Club member, you have until December 5th to choose your state and local leaders. First learn about the election details and read the candidate statements. Then visit sc.org/mdvote to cast your ballot. Be responsible. VOTE!
The webinar will feature "a legal expert from the Conservation Law Foundation to explain the legal mechanism and precedent for such policies, and national experts from Fossil Free Media to shed light on the massive national movement developing to Make Polluters Pay." Attend if you can. Be informed and involved. After all, the future is up to us.
Thanks for all you do for the environment, Jacky Grindrod Vice-Chair Sierra Club Lower Eastern Shore Group
