It was hot, rainy and very early in the morning, but the indomitable people of the Lower Eastern Shore Group advanced to the Convention Center nonetheless, determined to show all Maryland County big-wigs that Maryland needs a Bottle Bill and we are tired of waiting.

It's been a busy Spring and Summer. We have tabled at Ocean Pines Bay Day in May, held an in-person general membership meeting in May at Shad Landing of Pocomoke River State Park, participated in an OC beach clean-up in early June with our allies Beach Heroes, rallied outside the Maryland Municipal League Summer Conference at the Convention Center in mid-June (again to push the Bottle Bill), conferred with other offshore wind advocates at an in-person "fireside" chat to strategize support going forward, and researched data centers and stream restorations to fully inform ourselves as we decide our positions on these disruptive constructions.
This Fall, we will present another screening of the compelling, consuming film,Plastic People. This is a priority for us because it centers on what may be the worst danger we face - microplastics in our bodies that harm our growth and good health. Details forthcoming! Saturday September 26th is National Public Lands Day. Join members of the Lower Eastern Shore Group for a beach clean up followed by a brown bag lunch General Membership Meeting at Assateague Island National Seashore from 9 AM -12 PM. Enjoy the outdoors and take action to keep our natural areas beautiful and safer for wildlife. Clean up activities will be within the National Seashore. Entrance fees are waived that day. Meet at North Ocean Beach parking area for the beach clean up at 9AM and at the North Ocean Beach picnic pavilion at noon for a brief General Membership meeting.
