1st Step: Get trained

Group of young campers

The Camping Leadership Immersion Course (CLIC) Training is designed to provide leaders with the skills and resources to plan and lead a youth camping trip in Scout Hollow. During the two-day and one-night Leadership Training, teachers and leaders practice front country camping skills and familiarize themselves with Rouge Park’s natural, historical, and cultural resources.

Participants learn the basics of how to reserve future camping trips and are trained to lead place-based nature hikes and other outdoor activities. After Program Leaders have completed the Leadership Training, they are certified and can then begin scheduling camping trips at Scout Hollow.

Upon completion of this 28 hour (9 am - 1 pm of the next day), overnight Leadership Training, participants gain access to a fully resourced camping experience in the heart of Detroit (including gear, educational programming, and pre-trip orientations).

Scheduled CLIC trainings for 2022:

June 11 - 12

The training has a cost of $35 per person, which includes meals and camping gear. To sign-up or request information about CLIC trainings please complete this form

" I am truly impressed with the diversity of adults who attended this training. I am thrilled that all adult participants seemed to be Detroiters working with Detroit youth in a really wide variety of capacities. I think that diversity really made for a more informative training and opportunity to bounce ideas off of each other." - CLIC Trainee 2018
