Allegheny Group Announces Pittsburgh City Council Endorsements

Pittsburgh City Council

District 2 Theresa Kail-Smith, Incumbent. Ms. Kail Smith has been on City Council since 2009. While on City Council she has supported energy efficiency, carbon reduction programs, efforts to reduce and replace single use plastics with sustainable alternatives, and reducing the use of fossil fuels, She has also supported the Allegheny health Department’s authority to enforce air quality regulation on industrial facilities polluting our air. She has a strong campaign established with volunteers and funding. She has endorsements from the Pittsburgh Firefighters, the Allegheny County Democrats, the Teamsters, and the Steel City Stonewall Democrats. More details are available at Theresa Kail-Smith

District 4  Bethani Cameron, who is challenging Anthony Coghill, the Incumbent.   Ms. Cameron will be a strong advocate for environmental issues.  She supports fighting industrial pollution, increased funding for public transportation, policies that support stormwater control, Pittsburgh’s Climate Action Plan, and eliminating sources of lead poisoning.  She is endorsed by Clean Water Action, Women for the Future Pittsburgh, Run for Something, Young Democrats of Allegheny County, and Steel City Stonewall Democrats.  Although challenging an incumbent is always difficult, she is enthusiastic, committed to our issues and worthy of our endorsement.  Mr. Coghill did not seek our endorsement.  He does not mention any environmental issues on his website and has no record of previous strong support for environmental issues.  More details are available at Bethani Cameron

We urge ALL Sierra Club members to support these candidates by volunteering for their campaigns (even if you can’t vote for them), supporting them financially, and spreading the word to friends, neighbors, and relatives. Boots on the ground make the difference! Your support MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!
