Meet the Sierra Club's New Directors

Each year, Sierra Club members elect 5 people to the 15-member, all-volunteer board of directors that governs the organization. Each year, Sierra Club members elect 5 people to the 15-member, all-volunteer board of directors that governs the organization. This year, 10 percent of Club members voted in the April election. Meet the winners:

  • ALLISON CHIN, former Sierra Club president and diversity advocate (37,530 votes)

  • SPENCER BLACK, current Sierra Club director and former Wisconsin state legislator (36,222 votes)

  • MARGRETE STRAND RANGNES, former director of the Sierra Club's Labor and Trade Program (31,587 votes)

  • LIZ WALSH, current Sierra Club director and professor of biological sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso (29,281 votes)

  • STEVE MA, Sierra Club activist and consultant for nonprofits (27,707 votes)

"Some are Sierra Club veterans; others bring fresh perspectives—this strong, diverse group will help us meet the challenges environmentalists face in 2015 and beyond," says former board president David Scott.
