The green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas to scientists, honu in Native Hawaiian) is always a welcome sight in Hawai'i. The largest hard-shelled sea turtle on the planet was put on the endangered species list in 1978, and since then its numbers have grown steadily. Sports photographer Donald Miralle captured this shot at the 2016 Ironman World Championship in Kailua–Kona.
