The Tennessee Chapter of the Sierra Club works to elect candidates who will protect the environment and promote social justice.
The Sierra Club’s political program focuses on electing environmental champions through nonpartisan, grassroots political action. The principal goals of the program are carried out by the Chapter's Political Committee supported by local volunteers, all of whom work to:
- elect candidates at every level of government who will support and promote environmental protection and social justice;
- hold elected officials accountable for the impact of both their decisions on the health of the planet and the elimination of systemic racism;
- raise the visibility of environmental and social justice issues in electoral campaigns.
