Produced water, a toxic byproduct of oil and gas drilling, poses a growing threat to Texas’ freshwater resources. As a member of the Texas Produced Water Consortium, we closely follow research and policy developments related to the treatment, reuse, and discharge of produced water. We remain prepared to push back on efforts to fast-track the release of this chemically-laden wastewater into the environment without adequate science and protections in place.
