Come join us for a snowshoe hike to Chickadee Ridge on Saturday, February 1st. We will walk one mile with a slight uphill from our parking lot on the Mount Rose Highway to a view of all of Lake Tahoe, have lunch, play some games (weather dependent) and, of course, check out the Chickadees. We will do a loop back to where we started, also about a mile, and all downhill. This is a beginner's walk which will be perfect for those who have never been snowshoeing.
So, if you have never been snowshoeing, this trek is a perfect way to try it out. And if you have never been to Chickadee Ridge, well, ya gotta go!!! Don’t have the equipment and clothing? No worries! Those attending will receive a clothing and equipment guide, and we expect that you will use a bunch of clothing and equipment from ICO.
This is both a training and a social gathering, so feel free to sign up your kids (12 and up), partners, and friends! We will start and end from the parking area at Mount Rose Highway, only about 40 minutes from downtown Reno. Depending on the weather, we plan to meet up at 10:30 and be back on the road by 3:30pm. Perhaps someone will organize a post-trip gathering at a restaurant in South Reno afterward to celebrate our good time together!
We are limiting this trip to 20 people. If you would like to be included on this trip, please email Rob by January 27th (at the latest) and he will reply to you with the following:
- A detailed list of what you should bring with you.
- A form for requesting gear and clothing from ICO
- A waiver/medical form, which you must fill out and return to Rob
- Directions to the parking area, a specific trip schedule, weather/safety updates and emergency contact information.
This trip will definitely fill up! The first people to turn in their signed waivers are assured to be on the trip. All others will be put on a waiting list. The first step is to email Rob at robschamberg@gmail.com with the number in your group and the ages.
We are looking forward to a great time!
